Howe We Stay True to Ourselves as Business Partners While Still Growing and Scaling Our Company
Know where you are today
The person you are at home will come out at work as well, so the foundation of being true to yourself starts well before you get to your office desk. And for a couple, it starts even earlier.
Kaid and I have learned that if you’re having trouble feeling fulfilled, work will rarely fill that void. It’s best to identify what brings you true purpose so you can show up your best in both areas of life.
A great exercise our mentor, a true visionary, taught us is a three-part question exercise. The first question..know where you are today.
This question alone can unlock the opportunity to get more acquainted with what you are happy or dissatisfied about in life. It’s important to have a good understanding of how you are feeling now, both good and bad, so that you can effectively answer question two..
Identify where you want to be
This next question really helps you envision what you want the shortterm and longterm future to look like for yourself, your family, and your business.
Using what you noted from question one, now identify where you want to take things moving forward. This applies for areas you are both happy and dissatisfied with. Now that you have revised and new goals set before you, it’s time for question 3.
Strategize on how to make it that way
How can you make it that way? The ultimate question. It’s time to put action into this exercise. You’ve identified your current situation (good and bad), you’ve listed where your want your future to take you, and now it’s time to identify what steps will get you there.
This simple 3-part framework helps you refocus in times of confusion or massive change. Use this when you’re starting to feel lost, disappointed, or even frustrated to re-center and reset.
By consistently checking in, knowing your specific goals, and how you plan to achieve them will have a dramatic impact on your mental, emotional, and physical strength both at home and in work.
As the leaders in our company, it’s important that we have the confidence and clarity on where we are today, where we want to be, and what we are going to do to make it that way. By having having clear intentions, we and our team can work more effectively on making those dreams happen faster and more easily.
